General Electric Hydro Plant Support Hub Leader_Western Canada in Vancouver, British Columbia

Role Summary:The plant support hub leader is responsible to develop, pilot and grow the transactional service activities within the geographical area covered by the hub.

Transactional service activities, also called Plant Support activities, are the services provided to Hydro Power Plants such as Spare Parts, Technical Assistance, Condition Assessment, Maintenance and Repairs.Related products are mainly Hydro Turbine and Generator products, but can also be controls for governor&DCS, Valves and auxiliaries.

Essential Responsibilities:Individual accountabilities

In his role, the plant support hub leader will :

  • Partner with the sales manager of the area to understand local markets, customers and partners

  • In collaboration with the sales manager, set up the commercial strategy and develop plant support activities, in line with GE Hydro Service business strategy

  • Own customer interface at plant level

  • Define the local partnering strategy

  • Build the appropriate local network of key partners to support GE in executing the jobs with responsiveness, quality and competitiveness.

  • Set up the operational organisation locally to be lean and competitive, leveraging GE engineering and site resources locally, and other GE support functions regionally

  • Own the sizing of the local team to support the plant support activities, with respect to business recovery targets

  • Conduct site visits, client meetings, listen to customer needs and be ready to detect client issues and promote the adequate technical solutions

  • Define proposals strategy, target price and build the technical and commercial proposal

  • Negotiate the deal until the award

  • Pilot the execution of the job with respect to time, quality, and costs commitment

  • Run the Hub financials in terms or orders, cash-in and OP

  • Build and present business plans, results and recommendations to senior business leaders

  • Build strong relationship and intimacy with GE client while demonstrating success in the execution of the jobs

Organisation

The Plant support hub leader will report directly to the country service director and will lead functionally a plant support core team (locally), and support functions representative (based in other GE Hydro North America locations/offices). GE Hydro North America Headquarter is located in Brossard, Quebec.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical engineering

  • 15-20 Years professional experience including :

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Hydro Turbine and Generators service and retrofit

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Project management (small size/fast track projects)

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a commercial role or business development

  • Engineering or Field Operation background is valued

  • Knowledge of the Hydro customers in the area is valued

Specific requirements

  • Able to travel to Hydro Power Plants frequently (30% of the time)

  • Able to work at distance from Headquarters and navigate in the organization to report adequately or leverage the regional resources

Location : Western Canada or US Northwest – British Columbia or Washington State (To be determined). Home office or Co-working area or GE existing offices (To be determined)
