General Electric SAP Release Manager in Van Buren Township, Michigan

Job Description Summary

Aviation’s MRO organization handles $9B of Services fulfillment, consisting of 11 global Overhaul & Repair shops. As a Release Manager in MRO IT organization you will own the Release Management lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating, reporting and the management of releases across the SAP ERP systems for GE Aviation. Where necessary the release manager will provide tools and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases into production.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for the complete release management process

  • Create, publish and maintain the release calendar for SAP support and SAP projects in an N+n landscape and ensure alignment with key partners and vendors

  • Communicate release details and schedules to the business and IT teams as required

  • Interact and communicate with test Managers, deployment leaders, IT Operations and PMO on a need basis to manage the overall release process

  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations

  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations

  • Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business Go/No-Go reviews

  • Continually work towards improving the release process

  • Responsible to evaluate and deploy the necessary IT tools required to manage the overall release process

  • Participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks

  • Work closely with project teams on timelines adherence and schedule/scope changes

  • Actively work with project go live activities in reviewing the cutover plan and release checklist.

  • Work with various stake holders and understand the impact of code/project conflicts

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Digital Technology/Information Technology

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP

  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing release management or similar activities

Technical Expertise:

  • Good understanding of ERP technologies, specifically SAP.

  • Experience in release management activities

  • Good understanding of the ITIL process

  • Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective to the organization.
