General Electric Manager - Material & Sourcing in Vadodara, India

Job Description Summary

As a member of Plant Management, ensure consistent customer demand fulfilment in a safe compliant in line with business performance requirements. Be the single point responsible for internal logistics activities; tactical sourcing (direct and indirect); production planning; receipt, storage and issuance of materials in line with inventory management guidelines; outbound-yard management and blades pick up activities. Supporting operational sales and regional planning, giving inputs to RER (Operations Review) meetings.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage Production Planning / Logistics

  • Manage master planning, material processes and systems, prepare and update production schedules and purchasing needs. Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs. Optimize inventory and Supply Chain process improvements.

  • Act as a service-minded partner to all other internal departments particularly to Production, Quality, Finance and Production Engineering

  • Participate in production meetings, complete/resolve actions received, and flag critical issues needing support to Plant Director

  • Optimize inbound logistics processes in line with LMPS materials management modules

  • Ensure production scheduling based on Work Orders and S&OP

  • Ensure Materials Requirement Scheduling and highlight supply constraints to the S&OP

  • Run department meetings to review of material availability for production (buyers/stores/logistics)

  • Cooperate with regional functions – operational sales and regional planning

Manage Procurement / Sourcing

  • Ensure sourcing of all raw materials, components, and semi manufactured products at the right time

  • Ensure tracking of transportation cost, including customs

  • Review supplier’s performance and price, and take action if needed

  • Participate in supplier discussions and finalization of contracts as needed

Manage inventory

  • Actively manage inventory in line with cost, cash and physical space requirements

  • Ensure the review of quality of materials from the supplier, and ensure timely receipt of imported materials (after dispatch by suppliers), incl. full documentation to avoid production delays

  • Walk about to stores and dispatch area (outbound area)

  • Coordinate with customers for blade dispatches.

Manager Warehouse

  • Strategically manage warehouse in compliance with Safety, Quality and Materials Management requirements

  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and operations

  • Setup layout and ensure efficient space utilization

  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures

  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements

  • Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system

  • Prepare annual budget

  • Produce reports and statistics regularly (FIFO, IN/OUT status report, dead stock report etc.)

  • Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided

External Yard and Warehouse Management and customer pickups:

  • Plan and execute manpower, logistics, material handling equipment to meet customer pick-up plan.

  • Manage External Finish goods storage yard to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery requirement of the yard operations.

Others

  • Clear communication of daily KPI’s

  • Good People leader to drive GE Ways of Working within the team.

  • Conduct weekly 5S audits, and ensure accident-free environment in stores and warehouse

  • Develop training requirements and budgets

  • Make improvements to solutions of problems within an area

  • Pro-actively manage department budget, and resolve resource conflict

  • Recommend or initiate personnel action such as disciplinary and discharge measures

Supervises (direct reports):

  • Operator, Materials & Resources, Operators Yard handling, Procurer/Buyer, Operations Scheduler, Yard Planner.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate Engineer (Mechanical or Industrial Production) Certification in Materials and Inventory Management desired.

Experience:

  • 15 Years + (preference in Supply Chain Management in a large manufacturing facility significant import / export experience.), knowledge of export, Import, Re- Import, MNRE, GR Waver process, and custom clearance process.

  • Profile a proven track record from a broad range of key positions like e.g., scheduler, buyer, engineer, and supervisor. Demonstrating a high of level of understanding of organizational practices and logistics.

Knowledge and Skills

  • ERP knowledge

  • Materials management and planning knowledge.

  • Good Analytical Skills

  • Ability to provide mentoring and coaching to plant personnel

  • Written and spoken English
