General Electric Product Margin Leader in Trevose, Pennsylvania

Role Summary:

The Product Margin Leader will develop strategy and be responsible for adding value by increasing margin on products. You will utilize experience / expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives, and act as a change agent to move cross-functional projects to completion.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the value engineering Should Cost programs to achieve product cost out objectives

  • Develop supplier and internal manufacturing engagement strategies based on product cost out ideas utilizing Should Cost analysis and expertise

  • Lead design and cost out idea generation events and activities such as Value Added and Value Engineering (VA / VE), plant line walks, supplier site idea generation events, bench-marking design gap analysis, design efficiency studies, alternate material substitutions, optimized manufacturing process, etc.

  • Accelerate business critical qualifications through manufacturing / supplier engagement, interface with product design team and centralization of real-time design changes

  • Implement design cost analysis (Should Cost) process for the Transportation organization delivering material and tooling cost out

  • Analyze data, Ensure accuracy and effectiveness / define opportunities / outliers for Sourcing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams

  • Execute, own responsibility for driving cross-functional implementation of projects to deliver communicated benefits within defined timeline

  • Develop strategies to increase margin on products

  • Lead of team to accomplish increased margins

  • Interface with production, product design, and quality teams to implement cost savings

  • Drive towards the yearly cost out goal agreed with the management

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing engineering, value engineering, shop operations, supplier development or global supply chain functions

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and internationally up to 25%

  • Strong communication, negotiation, project management and leadership skills

  • Ability to organize and lead large team events (idea generation, team communication, supplier engagement etc.)

  • Self-starter and motivator, ability to work independently and with teams to meet deadlines; this includes anticipating potential issues that might prevent successful roadmap delivery

  • Prior experience with diesel engines and/or fabrication, machining, casting, forging, welding manufacturing processes

  • Ability to guide and influence others

  • Advanced project management skills and ability to monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments

  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated business acumen

  • Sourcing experience

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Six Sigma training or equivalent Quality certification
