Job Description Summary

The Contract Manager has the responsibility of the contract management of the projects under Asia region P&L for GE Renewables Energy Hydro Business, in support of the Project Director(s) and reporting to the Senior Project Contract Manager, based in Tianjin China.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Non-legal contract experts primarily supporting the "Order to Remittance" phase of projects and dealing with commercial issues under project contracts, including but not limited to contract interpretation/analysis and execution, official documents and correspondences, claims (incl. change orders/variations), disputes and insurance.

  • Assume responsibility for project contractual activities and support PD after Hand Over from Sales until contractual obligations and issues are complete and settled.

  • Identification of Customer/Consortium obligations and development of claim strategy.

  • Preservation of our rights and entitlements in project contracts and ensure proper notices are given in line with contract requirements.

  • Implementation of project specific contractual procedures, particularly regarding claims, insurance, variation orders and amendments.

  • Prepare and/or comment on proper contractual documents, correspondences and notifications to and from Customer/Consortium/Third Party in line with contract requirements and business need

  • Support PD in and deal with claims to/from customer/consortium/insurance

  • Guide Project Team on general contractual interpretation, queries and issues (if required by referring to Legal)

  • Support PD in project risk & opportunity management

  • Undertake other contractual tasks as requested by PD and/or management

Qualifications Required:

  • University degree in Law, Business Administration, Technical or Engineering

  • Knowledge and at least 8 years of relevant working experiences in legal, contract management, project management/engineering, compliance, commercial/consultant

  • Strong skills in contract interpretation, claim management and negotiation, influence, analyzation, reporting, communication and team work

  • Commercial awareness (contractual, claim/VO management, damages) and compliance

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • Understanding of project risk management, industrial issues, financial report and commercial instrument (bond, LC, insurance) preferable
