Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE company is currently hiring a Strategic Sourcing Leader for our Integrated Well Services division based in The Woodlands, Texas or Dubai, UAE.

In this role, you will be responsible for all strategic third party procurement contracting and sourcing, and managing all third party spends for all integrated projects. Reducing third party costs, by means of strategic and regional relationship with Drilling Contractors, OCTG (tangible) suppliers and other well construction & intervention third party services is the primary role. Developing and driving rig strategies for BHGE both global and regional.

Essential Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Commercial recommendations to Commercial Operations (PPM) team for supplier selection.

  • Benchmark and evaluate the market to identify potential suppliers that are leaders in the industry with leading edge innovation, technology and value.

  • Strategically sources, allocates and manages preferred suppliers aligned with IWS and BHGE guidelines and regulations

  • Strategic sourcing of high spend third party vendors & suppliers, like drilling contractors and OCTG (tangible) suppliers. Ensures that regional relationships are in place, to ensure access of drilling and workover rigs to IWS projects.

  • Ensure that third party expenditures are optimized in both our existing project portfolio as well as bids.

  • Lead successful strategy initiatives that deliver substantial value and savings benefits to the overall BHGE, inclusive of developing and owning both global and regional rig strategies.

  • Ensure legal, financial and compliance risks are mitigated

  • Drives and accountable for complex contracting and commercial negotiations with suppliers for BHGE best interests at all times, cross functionally and geographies

  • High business acumen and able to apply intelligent rationale to the negotiations

  • Sets strategies to manage pricing negotiations ensuring competitive market prices and standards are applied

  • Manages supplier’s performance and performs risk management

  • Develops and maintains metrics of procurement i.e. key performance indicators and continuously improves the outcomes measured.

  • Conduct business in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Core Values as per BHGE’s Spirit and Letter.

  • Provide support in selection of third parties and negotiations to implement contractually aligned subcontracts along with the Commercial Operations (PPM) team.

  • Provide leadership to the Commercial Operations (PPM) team during negotiations with third party companies.


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, commercial or scientific discipline

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience from a top tier oil and gas operator/service organization

  • Minimum of five years’ experience with managing and leading employees.

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in managing and negotiating with third parties

  • Preferred experience with petroleum economics

  • 40% of Travel Time
