General Electric Terre Haute Inspector in Terre Haute, Indiana

Role Summary:The Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Inspector/Programmer has a comprehensive in-depth understanding of complex and highly technical concepts and principles in the own part of the function. Strong knowledge of technical concepts in technologies that intersect with own technical space.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Inspector/Programmer you will:

Generate and maintain CMM programs utilizing Renishaw Modus, PolyWorks or other software.

Verify new CMM programs.

Manipulate Models using NX 12 as needed to support the CMM programming needs.

Provide CMM related support to M.E. (Manufacturing Engineer) and provide operator training during new processes or process improvements.

Provide daily operator support in the form of CMM inspection and troubleshooting support to the shop floor.

Support and implement tooling & fixturing requirements associated with CMM inspection processes.

Generate and support workstation instructions (methods) for CMM related issues.

Initiate and lead process improvement projects to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery related to CMM processes.

Provide guidance in the implementation and expansion of CMM technology.

Provide effective communication to appropriate team members when needed.

Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment in a matrixed organization.

Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience in dimensional inspection or Apprentice/Graduate in a machining related program with experience in dimensional inspection

High school diploma or GED

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics:

Demonstrated proficiency programming and/or running Coordinate Measuring Machines.

Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements. with a strong GD&T knowledge. (ASME Y14.5M – 2009).

Mathematics Skills/Machine Tool Technology.

Demonstrated ability to work with solid models (preferably NX 12).

Ability to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication.
