Job Description Summary

The employee will be responsible for the design of hydro generator electrical components for large projects. He/she will also be responsible to give technical support to supply chain, manufacturing and site activities related to hydro generators.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Deliver work packages for large hydro projects or programs using technical guidelines, design reviews and feedback of experience (FOE);

• Supervise the work of design engineers and draftsmen to deliver design calculations, technical specifications, drawings and BOM’s;

• Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, drawings (supported by draftsmen) and BOM’s without supervision;

• Support local manufacturing for production of electrical components;

• Collaborate with supply chain and site installation to meet milestones;

• Apply rules and concepts for reliability, quality, safety and cost;

• Collaborate with and assist project engineering managers for a given project;

• Collaborate with consulting engineers and experts for FOE, design validation and root cause analysis (RCA).

• Coordination of auxiliary electrical systems design work done abroad.

Required Qualifications

• University degree in electrical engineering

• Very good knowledge in hydro machine electrical design, electromagnetism and insulation systems

• Robust experience in insulation systems and design of stator bars and coils for windings.

• Pro-activeness, sense of urgency, autonomy

• Good communication skills and leadership;

• Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-locational environment;

• Good analytical skills

• Team player, positive, willingness to learn & adapt to business needs

• Ability to travel

• Fluent in Portuguese and English (speaking and writing)

Desired Characteristics

• Valuable experience in generator electrical design or Master Degree in electrical engineering design

• Good knowledge of auxiliary electrical systems

• Valuable experience in generator site testing or site installation

• Knowledge of a third language is an asset (Spanish, French)
