General Electric Lead FPGA Specialist in Tampere, Finland

Job Description Summary

In this position you will be responsible for FPGA designs as part of to control power electronics products tailored to the needs of the GE businesses and external customers. You will belong to a local Control Software Engineering Team and work closely with global New Product Introduction team.

Essential Responsibilities :

Your main task is to design, verify, document and maintain FPGA designs. Grid Solutions delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC). These are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. Your main task is to design, verify, document and maintain FPGA designs, which are used in the reactive power compensator applications.

Areas of expertise include digital design and verification. You will be developing new solutions and maintain existing designs in a team covering multiple engineering disciplines.

Qualifications/Requirements :

In-order to succeed in this position, experience and track record in FPGA RTL design and verification is required.

You are experienced in:

• FPGA design and verification

• Digital system design / System-on-chip design

• Design and verification using VHDL. Verilog is a plus

You have suitable Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and strong oral and written communication skills in English, other language skill is an advantage. You’re able to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact, as well as participate in several projects simultaneously and have effective problem identification and solution skills. Team working skills, proven analytical and organizational abilities are essential.

Desired Characteristics :

As a plus, you may have experience on:

  • C or C++ programming

  • High speed serial interfaces

  • Matlab / Simulink and HDL Coder

  • Power Systems
