General Electric Procurement Specialist in Subang, Malaysia

Job Description Summary

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to placing orders with vendors and manage inventories to ensure that materials are delivered in the specified amount of time to maintain lean inventories to meet the production schedules need. The responsibilities include determining material specifications to meet quality requirement, creating and maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations.

A successful Material Planner and Procurement should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate processes for material delivery to point of fit to ensure continuous supply to production

  • Tracking production volume and monitoring customer demand patterns and purchasing trends.

  • Source and develop a pool of alternative vendors with a view to reduce costs and lead-time

  • Liaise with vendors and OEMs to follow up on delivery status of spares purchases and to expedite deliveries via phone calls outside working hours, where necessary.

  • Utilise Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) in SAP to ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required

  • Maintains system set ups within MRP system for each assigned supplier, including the use of EDI.

  • Monitor materials flow to identify bottlenecks and forecast problems

  • Ensuring materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficient by vendor selection.

  • Understand and manage risks to minimise impact on production schedule. Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production

  • Oversee the effective delivery of end-to-end service globally ensuring the proper execution of the P2P process: from requisition handling, to PO placement and tracking, to PO changes, to PO close.

  • Liaising with vendor, production, finance, customer service, logistic etc

  • Preparing and generating weekly report of inventory status, stock requisition analysis, and forecasting

  • Proactively contributes to the team

  • Initiate / support LEAN activities and projects to continuously improve the business processes.

  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned on time

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Mathematic, Statistics or closely related field required

  • Over 3 years in material planning, purchasing or relevant supply chain experience.

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Operations, MRP systems, shop floor controls, Supply Chain methodology, Material Management System, Lean and Perfect Execution.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SAP. VBA skill is an advantage.
