General Electric Product Quality Engineer in Sterling, Virginia

Job Description Summary

Responsibility for the quality of a product line(s) within the PQE function driving product, process and quality improvements. Overseeing and providing technical guidance to internal customers, team members and stakeholders. Direct quality support to dedicated product lines with objective to improve FTY and reduce losses. Interface with customer where required and support all quality and continuous improvement activity.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Owner of Quality requirements on a product line supporting operations and engineering teams where required

  • Support new site set up in Warner Robbins, GA. Ownership of quality control and concessions in Warner Robbins Air Force base operations. Travel 25%.

  • Ownership of root cause identification corrective actions reducing CoPQ

  • Process and product audits and First Article Inspection for assigned product line

  • Supporting daily quality and operations reporting rhythm through standatd business meetings

  • Identification of opportunities for improvement projects

  • Support customer communication on appointed product line

  • Daily, weekly and monthly reports to shop leaders

  • Definition of quality control and inspection plans

  • Provide training on production quality and inspection procedures

Required Qualifications

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires advanced experience in the Quality & QC Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

  • For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

  • Proven experience in QC Engineering, Quality System Planning and Quality Improvement methods

  • Working knowledge of EASA/CAA Part 21G and Part145 approvals

  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 requirements

  • Certified Auditing skills

  • Six Sigma trained or Green Belt certification preferred but must demonstrate and understanding of |Lean principles

  • Experience in Quality/Production/R&O function within a manufacturing or maintenance organization

  • Strong customer focus and understanding of customer needs

  • Responsible and accountable for meeting products quality needs as well as influencing other product team members

  • Good interpersonal and team skills

  • Excellent ability to work with digital tools and data

  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams in group activity.

  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.
