Job Description

As a Lead Systems Engineer you will be interpreting the customers detailed technical specification, drive a cost-effective design of the HVDC installation utilizing the latest Power Electric Solutions. You will be part of an established team of experienced power systems engineers, which will provide opportunities to develop your skills in the field of high voltage AC and DC power system design.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Supervised the Main Circuit Design to develop an integrated scheme design that meets the Customer’s needs

  • Have the Technical Leadership to drive the development of GE’s HVDC Reference and coordinate cross all engineering functions.

  • Perform network studies to confirm of the correct interaction between the equipment, its control system and the rest of the network.

  • Perform Transient Studies to discover (by simulation) temporary and transient overvoltage stresses on equipment and surge arrester energy ratings.

  • Conduct AC and DC harmonic performance and harmonic stability studies for HVDC converter stations for VSC and LCC HVDC schemes.

Key requirements/qualifications:

  • Masters or Bachelor degree in Power Systems Engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent knowledge)

  • Proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of Power Systems Engineering and preferably in HVDC System Design.

  • Knowledge of system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent
