Job Description Summary
This role supports GE Aerospace’s non-destructive inspection engineering function. We use electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and thermal imaging methods to ensure our engine components are safe for flight at a brand new 80,000 sq. ft. facility located outside of Cincinnati, OH. GE’s Aerospace Inspection Solutions (AIS) team is responsible for designing, developing, validating, and deploying ultrasonic, infrared, and eddy current NDT inspection techniques for metal and composite aircraft engine components.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical support to inspection facilities performing Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Create quality planning documentation for immersion UT systems
Review and approve UT tech plans authored by others
Train and test UT Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors per NAS410
Be responsible for surveillance of UT personnel certifications
Coordinate and provide expert input on NDT MRB activities
Perform internal and external site assessments through process audits
Drive root cause and corrective actions leading to prompt resolution of audit findings
Maintain processes and equipment needed to support next generation inspections
Work closely with Sourcing, Quality, Design, and Manufacturing Engineering organizations to solve problems and meet business commitments
Support additional complementary and supplementary NDT methods as driven by needs of the business
Work on development of phased array UT next generation inspections
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/ GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in NDT) + Minimum of 3 years of Ultrasonic NDT experience
NAS-410 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level 3 Certification, with documented certification records
Desired Characteristics
Significant experience with an additional NDT method
Extensive NDT application skills with 10+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
Strong technical aptitude, including experience with modeling software
Ability to interpret engineering part drawings
Greenbelt or Blackbelt lean or six sigma certification; or extensive quality experience
Lean mindset
Strong teaming skills
Able to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
