Job Description Summary
As a Lead Engineer in the Repair Technology Center of Excellence – Inspection organization, you will provide leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes focused on key measurement technologies for the repair team. In this role you will utilize your metrology experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
The focus of this role is to identify, develop, industrialize and globalize metrology or dimensional inspection technology for the services network as part of a global team.
Meet with customers to determine the requirements for dimensional measurement technology development
Develop the project plan and establish resource requirements
Conduct and or lead the dimensional measurement technology development effort
Validate the performance of the measurement technology
Drive the implementation of the measurement technology use in repair shops and facilities
Follow business and design review practices of GE Power and Water during the execution of the development effort
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Physics or equivalent
At least 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position
Designing, developing and implementing industrial component dimensional measurement equipment, processes and fixtures
Programming and using coordinate measurement machines for industrial measurement applications
Working knowledge of optical based dimensional measurement technologies
Willingness and ability to travel both domestic and international 5-10%
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
Demonstrated experience in the development and industrial implementation of optical based measurement technology
Masters of Science in Engineering or Physics with a focus on metrology
Experience with global team project execution (leveraging project resources located in global locations)
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Solid understanding of GD&T
Basic working knowledge of 3D engineering design softwares like NX Unigraphics or similar
