Job Description Summary

The Inventory & Fixed Asset Accountant is pivotal to the business in ensuring the accuracy of the Inventory and Fixed Assets accounting records, and do so by making sure that the business Inventory and Fixed Assets are properly accounted for in compliance with GE policies and the applicable statutory reporting requirements and kept up to date. In this role, the Inventory and Fixed Assets Accountant will work closely with Operations, Business Finance and shared service teams to develop and maintain robust inventory and fixed assets controls and drive an efficient business process.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Closing: Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the month-end Inventory & Fixed Assets closing cycle and reporting activities (e.g. Inventory Scorecard, Inventory Turns, Fixed Assets Spent vs Budget).

  • Controllership: Ensure that Inventory & Fixed Assets accounting treatment adheres to GE policies, government, and statutory reporting requirements. Focal point of contact to Operations to provide guidance on Inventory & Fixed Assets accounting & policy matters.

  • Audit: Support the annual financial audit by providing Inventory and Fixed Assets records that fulfill the audit requirements on a timely basis, including any internal audit requests from time to time.

  • Physical Count: Work closely with the Materials team to validate quarter end shipments for proper revenue cut-off and corresponding inventory balance adjustment. Support the annual Inventory (yearly) and Fixed Assets (once every 5 years) physical count across the business facilities.

  • Cashflow Forecast: Responsible to work with Operation teams to ensure the accuracy and timely submission of quarterly Inventory balance and Fixed Assets addition forecast to HQ and take proactive steps to address forecast variance vs target.

  • Inventory Obsolescence & Turns Review: Lead the quarterly inventory obsolescence review with Operations and take proactive steps to support initiatives to reduce inventory obsolescence reserves. Partner with Operations teams to identify and execute on any business opportunities to meet inventory turns target.

  • Capex Planning & Analysis: Support the business annual capital expenditure planning and review cycle. Work closely with the business stakeholders to track the status of Capex projects to ensure that the expenditures are within budget and incurred on a timely basis. Any exceptions are promptly highlighted for timely resolutions with the stakeholders.

  • SAP Implementation: Participate in SAP implementation project which include process gap analysis, activities planning and robust testing of Inventory and Fixed Assets scenarios, data migration validation, etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 to 3 years of working experience previously gained from a manufacturing business environment

  • Candidates with Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Candidates with tertiary education or professional accounting certificates (e.g. Diploma, LCCI, etc.) and relevant experience will be considered
