General Electric Resident Engineer China – DNMC in Shenzhen, China

Role Summary:Located at Daya Bay nuclear power station, Shenzhen city, Guangdong province, PR China the GE resident engineer is the first point of contact for our customer Daya Bay Nuclear Operations and Management Co., Ltd. (DNMC).

Responding to the customer’s concerns and communicating with the global GE technical community the engineer is responsible for providing advice and resolution for technical issues associated with the customers steam turbines and auxiliary plant.

Essential Responsibilities:Ensure that DNMC have the necessary communication links to the responsible GE engineering functions to enable fast resolution of all technical issues to help keep the units safe and operating reliably. The Resident Engineer will be the primary point of contact on site interfacing with customer’s Technical, Maintenance and Operation departments.

The Resident Engineer shall provide advice and guidance to our customer ensuring they are fully aware and have a good understanding of the turbine inspection recommendations and are advised of recommended periods between inspections.

Make customer aware of applicable service bulletins and Technical Information Letters (TILs) that may require the customer to take action not covered by the original maintenance instructions.

Ensure outage plans are communicated back to the business and assist the customer in preparation by:

  1. Ensuring long range planning and spare parts ordering are considered well in advance.

  2. Ensure operational issues that need rectification are known and communicated.

  3. Facilitate the visits of specialist and assist with the logistics for equipment needed for execution.

Attend regular co-ordination meetings arranged by the customer to identify any future technical requirements and resolve any problems. Assist customer with spare parts identification and ordering considering routine spare parts, outage spares, strategic spares and parts needed for any planned CM&U activities.

Make customer aware of applicable upgrade products and communicate the benefits. If necessary arrange for specialists to visit and promote the advantages to customer.

In the event of operational or maintenance issues assist the customer with investigations, NCRs and RCAs.

Report monthly on the plant, recoding operational data including:

• Operating hours

• Number of Starts

• Trips

• Maintenance issues

• Planned outages

• Other items of interest

Inform the customer about fleet experience on other similar units covering both the GEC and Arabelle technology units.

Qualifications/Requirements:- Mechanical / Electrical Engineer with extensive knowledge of either GEC and/or Arabelle steam turbine technology. Ideally the candidate will have worked within one of the responsible engineering teams and have an in-depth knowledge of turbine design, maintenance and operation.

  • Familiar with the applicable business tools including RPDM and PowerNow.

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to discuss technical issues clearly with the customer and the responsible engineering teams.

Desired Characteristics:- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering

  • Extensive experience in steam turbine design, operation and maintenance.

  • Fluent in English, working language

  • Excellent communicator

  • Willing to support the customer ‘out of hours’ to support emergency issue resolution.
