Job Description Summary
Trade Finance Analysis, Execution and Training working closely with the GE Industrial Business and Banks for their Trade Finance needs. Implementing the Trade Finance Strategy in the region set by HQ. Structuring and execution of the day to day issuance/ amendment of Bank Guarantees/ Letters of Credit and Surety Bonds. Managing key Trade & Project Finance initiatives, such as :identifying and executing on opportunities to simplify/digitize processes, data/system migrations, management of local lines in the region and reducing exposure where possible. Individual will liaise with key Treasury, Business, Bank, stakeholders.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Lead Trade Finance role to be the interface to the Banks and GE Businesses in China and other countries in APAC region.
Strategic management of the Trade portfolio, implementing the Strategy set by HQ.
Strong knowledge base of Trade finance products and process.
Management of the day-to-day issuance and amendment of Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees and Surety Bonds, leveraging the ALOC system. Primary Focus Asia
Ability to communicate and clearly articulate Strategy internally to Senior Treasury and Business management
Work with China treasury team to manage and maintain the relationship with banks, lead dialogue with banks in trade finance domain.
Work closely with Banks to expand relationships throughout the region as needed.
Utilize expertise on instrument format reviews for Industrial Businesses to ensure Corporate Compliance and Risk mitigation. Maintain ownership for wing-to-wing L/C process from business request to bank payments and Business reconciliation.
Align closely with GTF Asia Lead/ business/ commercial treasury to actively manage the deal pipeline and provide training to GOT, new ALOC users and bank users as well as quarterly or half yearly Trade finance 101 / industry update.
Interface daily with the Businesses and Banks on extensions and auto renewals.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes through digitization.
Facilitate Businesses Contingent Liability reporting and Bank reconciliation reporting, cancellations of issuances, as applicable Perform regular review of all open ended instruments and execute on opportunities to cancel, where possible, to save bank fees during quarterly reconciliations with Banks and Businesses
Assist with ALOC system administration, Bank and Business user profile set-ups, and creation of new business and Bank silos. Maintain ownership for Business verticals and hierarchy, Business Delegations of Authority
Interface with Corporate Surety Broker (Aon)
Ensure Corporate Trade Finance Policy is followed
Align, where needed, on Bank Credit renewals; new issuances, amendments and monthly reporting consolidation ensuring sound operating processes.
Perform presentations /reports ad-hoc for Management review and Businesses when needed.
Assist with creation of training tools online for the Business and Banks re: the ALOC tool and Trade Finance tutorials.
Identify opportunities to reduce local lines, where possible.
Develop, maintain and update Leadership reporting packages to provide ongoing information on outstanding instruments, by Business, Bank, country Bank fees, metrics trends and opportunities for improvement.
Perform ad-hoc analysis, as required, for special projects related to Contingent Liabilities
Document and maintain detailed SOPs for all processes (i.e., Bank Guaranty requests, Business Continuity Process, Fee Payments to Banks).
Flexibility to provide back up support for all other team members Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be proficient speaking and writing in English and Mandarin Chinese. Other languages a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or economics
Preferred prior Trade Finance experience -Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees and Surety Bonds plus a strong understanding of UCC policies as well as local laws and regulations surrounding Trade Finance. Experience in Finance, Treasury and Capital Financial Services a plus.
Self-Starter who is detail-orientated with strong Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word skills.
Experience working with Global Businesses and with external Bank focus.
Ability to create and deliver business presentations and communicate effectively to Business Leaders- Strong PowerPoint Skills
Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions
Strong analytic skills, excellent in quantitative analysis Qualifications Desired:
MBA Business/ Finance.
Treasury experience in a GE Capital business, joint venture, Corporate Treasury, or with a Bank l/C Group.
High energy and self-motivated, with strong desire to learn, ability to multi-task without getting flustered in a fast-paced environment.
