Job Description Summary
As a Lead Engineer in the Land Constrained Hub Subsystem team, you will be at the forefront of wind turbine technology and systems design in GE Renewable Energy Onshore Wind. You will influence wind turbine product development and be involved in the development of the electric pitch system from concept to implementation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical accountability for pitch system electronic design focusing on microcontroller functionality in the hub subsystem, this is an essential part of the blade pitch control and safety system. He/she will drive to identify key risks and subsequent mitigation plans. He/she will lead new product introduction programs and support the growing fleet of GE wind turbines.
Lead wind turbine printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) hardware and firmware design and testing.
Lead design risk assessment and mitigation.
Develop design for reliability plans
Continuously improve PCBA design reliability by leading and executing failure analysis on current electronic products. Execute redesign when issues are found.
Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, and third parties such as Intertek, UL, CSA.
Bachelor of Science or higher in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university. Masters desirable.
5+ years of industry experience in PWA hardware design, including motor control hardware/firmware design.
Experience with FPGA/MCU logic development, circuit card schematic design, and circuit board simulation.
Experienced in design for reliability and design for test/manufacturability.
Experience with MCU programming on modern platforms based on ARM or TI cores.
Familiarity with modeling and analytical tools, including MATLAB/Simulink, Cadence/Pspice, ICAP, Multisim, etc.
Experience with EMC testing and working with agencies on certification, codes, and standards.
