General Electric Senior Productivity Program Manager in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

The Senior Productivity Program manager is responsible for reducing the lifecycle costs of specific turbine components and/or subsystems, across the global GE Renewable Energy contractual fleet. This person will work cross-functionally and with the regions to drive programs to reduce the frequency and cost of unplanned and/or corrective events and deliver variable cost productivity to the business.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

Identify, manage, and drive programs that reduce the cost of unplanned and/or corrective events on turbines under contract.

  • Drive global, cross-functional programs to deliver productivity, reduce cost and eliminate quality issues on unplanned failure events for designated components and/or sub-systems, across all turbine types in the fleet

  • Own the unplanned/corrective failure pareto for designated components and/or sub-systems and associated programs to work the high impact defect cost drivers

  • Create detailed business cases for productivity programs

  • Provide regions with implementation packages to enable deployment of developed programs.

  • Support the regions to identify poor performing sites and drive improvement plans relative to designated components or subsystems.

  • Monitor Top Issues for opportunities to leverage improvements and correctives across the fleet to realize productivity

  • Partner with the Digital / Analytics teams to drive the development of prognostics that can identify issues early and either eliminate or reduce the severity of the repairs

  • Partner with the engineering team to develop and accelerate productivity programs

  • Identify and manage the impact of major headwind issues

  • Align cross-functional resources to execute programs

  • Track and report key program milestones and metrics, including actual productivity benefit realized from progrms; resolve, highlight, and elevate delays and resource issues, as appropriate.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited university or college (mechanical or electrical engineering preferred)

  • Minimum of 5 years industrial experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated project management experience; Project Management (PMP) certification a plus

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the proven ability to motivate and influence global, cross-functional resources

  • Customer centric focus and capable of working with complex mission-based teams

  • Working knowledge of wind turbine services

  • Working knowledge of Lean

  • Asset management experience

  • Passionate about renewable energy

  • Proven success embracing and leading change initiatives

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in wind turbine component repairs, troubleshooting, and issue resolution

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Can-do attitude, sense of urgency, and results orientation
