General Electric Senior Performance Engineer - Fleet Management in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

The Wind Fleet Performance Engineer on the Systems team will lead the evaluation and diagnosis of performance for GE’s North America Onshore Wind turbine fleet to provide technical solutions to ensure GE meets contractual obligations, ensure turbines operate as desired, deliver customer satisfaction, and maintain world-class performance for our wind turbine fleet.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical issue resolutions related to wind turbine underperformance concerns via Power Answer Center (PAC) cases submitted through ServiceNow from service teams

  • Diagnose turbine performance issues to ensure GE meets contractual targets and avoid Liquidated Damages (LDs)

  • Lead discussions and collaborate with field service teams to mitigate wind turbine performance issues

  • Regularly present your findings on turbine or park level performance analyses and address concerns of various stakeholders (such as site teams, Service Directors, and Customer Relationship Managers) and leadership internally, as well as external parties such as customers, Independent Engineers, or other third parties

  • Identify systemic issues leading to underperformance and lead efforts to improve processes and turbine design and optimization opportunities, working cross-functionally with other Fleet Engineering component-focused teams and/or design engineering teams

  • Act as a resource and mentors colleagues with less experience in performance analysis and troubleshooting. Improve internal performance analytics tools, capabilities, and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university, preferably in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior experience with wind turbine performance analysis and/or energy assessments

  • Understanding of wind turbine dynamics & how various drivers, such as environmental conditions, impact power curve performance

  • Strong competency in obtaining, filtering, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data using analytic tools such as MATLAB and/or Excel

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills to explain complex technical issues to non-technical parties (both internal and external)

  • Understanding and ability to collect data from GE’s fleet operational data sources such as Global Repository (GR), SCADA, trenders

  • Understanding of how GE wind turbine and farm-level control features and parameters may influence turbine power curves and performance output

  • Ability to take vague and ambiguous problems and scope a clear problem statement definition, dissect a problem into actionable steps

  • Proactive approach to identifying solutions quickly and putting together a team of stakeholders to resolve issues

The [salary/hourly pay] range for this position is The [salary/hourly pay] range for this position is 109,500.00 - 146,000.00 - 182,500.00 USD Annual. The specific [salary/hourly rate] offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
