Senior Engineer/Consultant, Power System Strategy (Distributed Energy focus)
GE Energy Consulting offers global clients a wide range of solutions across a spectrum of power generation, delivery and utilization. Our Power Systems Strategy team offers detailed engineering and economic analyses focused on the financial and physical operation of electric power systems. This includes generation and grid planning, system optimization, asset valuation, and energy policy implications.
The "Senior Consultant, Distributed Energy" role will work alongside GE Energy Consulting leadership and other business unit leadership to craft GE Energy Consulting's strategy as it relates to distributed energy consulting. A successful person in this role will also work to develop new projects in the space and lead/contribute to consulting engagements in the space.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
As a member of the GE Energy Consulting - Power Systems Strategy team, a successful candidate will lead and contribute to consulting and advisory services across the electric power industry and support other GE business initiatives related to power systems equipment and services. Some qualities of a successful candidate for this role include:
Specific to DER/Microgrid Role
Ability to understand the grid segment, related energy industry, and competitive landscape
Established knowledge of the power sector and the relevant current affairs, and where microgrid/DER solutions fit within that context
Ability to demonstrate thought leadership to better position, drive and inspire strategy and perspective within GE Energy Consulting and related GE businesses
Ability to take responsibility for the developing new work in the space
Experience leading consulting engagements generally, preferably focused on DER/microgrid space
Experience with microgrid/DER modeling software such as Homer Energy software suite, Xendee, DER-CAM, or comparable a plus
Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with GE Energy Consulting's commercial and communication teams, software and modeling teams, and other internal GE businesses
Other General Desired Qualities
Ability to develop, maintain, and apply detailed power system simulation models (power flow models, capacity expansion models, and/or production cost models) for the energy industry for customer planning and investment objectives, evaluating impacts of structural changes in electricity markets, and identifying growth opportunities for GE
Ability to effectively communicate study results to both internal and external customers via written detailed and summary reports and presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions
Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are essential
Qualifications/Requirements:
Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Computer Science
Minimum 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Energy market design and operations, Generation/transmission planning or operations, Wholesale power trading, Energy consulting, or other similar relevant experience
Eligibility Requirements:

Desired:
Proficient with Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Excellent interpersonal communication skills to present findings of analytical studies to a wide range of industry stakeholders
Strong technical writing skills
MBA or Master’s/PhD degree in engineering, economics or computer science
Experience with power system reliability models (GE MARS or equivalent Monte-Carlo simulation tool), and/or production cost models (MAPS, PLEXOS, GridView, PROMOD) a plus
Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, etc.) a plus
