General Electric Quality Technician in Schenectady, New York
Job Description Summary
The Quality Technician role will require the Operation of NDT Radiography (CT/DR) equipment to process and Qualify production parts. In addition, this person will support GE Process Engineers in developing processes and manufacturing standards/work instructions for new technology. This hands-on role will require the individual to be willing to learn and work on a wide variety of leading edge manufacturing processes and components.
Job Description
Support all NDT Functions from CT/DR, Visual, FPI within ASNT Certification Discipline
Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
Coordinate all aspects of in-process inspections within cell(s);
Have the ability to analyze problems, identify ASNT defects associated with Visual and Radiographic defects
Evaluate and determine disposition of non-conforming materials and formulate corrective actions
Document standard operating procedures for daily operations, inspections, maintenance, environmental health and safety compliance.
Provide process and quality support for development, first piece qualification, process improvement and productivity activities of new and existing suppliers and in-house qualifications
Ability to understand, interpret, and create written technical information (i.e. Engineering drawings, machine manuals, and standard operating procedures).
Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Essential Responsibilities
Radiographic Reads of Cast Part
QA support for product release
QA support for registration activities of regulatory documentation
Support the Compilation of QA Monthly Reports
Required Qualifications
Associates Degree in a Technical or Science concentration plus 4 or more years experience in manufacturing or quality (Or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Manufacturing or Quality)
Knowledge of relevant Excel / Word packages and familiarity with Electronic
Management Systems
Ability to understand, interpret, and create written technical information (i.e. Engineering drawings, machine manuals, and standard operating procedures).
Strong verbal and written skills.
Eligibility Requirements
This is a 2nd shift position and you must be able to work 3pm-11pm.
Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
This is a 100% onsite position at the GE Schenectady Service Center Plant
Desired Characteristics
ASNT NDT Experience
ASNT NDT Level I or II Certification in Radiography (CT/DR)
4 years Manufacturing Experience
Bachelors of Science in Engineering
Knowledge of relevant Excel / Word packages and familiarity with Electronic Management Systems
Strong verbal and written skills
Prior Casting NDT Experience
Ability to work effectively cross functionally
Highly organized and motivated
Excellent interpersonal skills
Lean Principles
Prior union environment experience
