General Electric Onshore Wind Assistant Controller in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

The Onshore Wind Assistant Controller will assist the Onshore Wind North America & Global Services Controller in leading the global business controllership organization, with specific focus over technical accounting, operational controllership, and daily management across the Onshore Global Services business. This role will lead operational controllership over the warranty process globally. Additionally, this role will serve as a strategic business partner to the respective Services finance teams both within the business as well as the accounting hubs in Monterrey, Budapest and Asia. This individual will also partner closely with the Onshore Wind International Controller to provide technical revenue support and drive increased consistency in processes.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

Specifically, this role’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Drive overall ownership and accountability regarding Controllership initiatives across the business, including key Controllership metrics (statutory financial statement filings, statutory audit requirements, account reconciliations, etc.) related to the Services business.

  • Lead monthly and quarterly closing processes coordinating all external and internal reporting and disclosures for Onshore Wind Global Services including all monthly reporting and the quarterly FRP.

  • Drive standard work warranty processes globally through partnering with relavent Services finance managers to ensure globally consistent and lean processes.

  • Partner with the Onshore Wind International Controller to review complex transactions for revenue recognition considerations under ASC 606.

  • Provide technical guidance across the business including leading consultations with the Technical Accounting Group, where applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign accounting laws, regulations and procedures at a business, sub-segment or corporate level.

  • Manage the process, accuracy and compliance with GAAP across all financial reporting systems.

  • Manage general accounting and financial reporting teams, and interactions with accounting shared service organizations including account reconciliations, closing processes, general ledger & financial systems maintenance, and accounting compliance

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience/knowledge

  • Minimum of 8 years of previous Controllership experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Additional finance, accounting, controllership and/or audit experience

  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy businesses and closing processes

  • Fluency in English

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Leadership experience with senior management interaction / support is preferred

  • Lean training is preferred
