General Electric Lead Tax Analyst - Sales & Use Tax in Schenectady, New York
Job Description Summary
The Sr. Tax Analyst will be responsible for supporting US sales and use tax for GE Company and its affiliates.
Support transaction tax projects including tax system implementations (One Source/Vertex) due diligence, integration reviews and voluntary disclosures.
Support outsourced exam providers on sales & use tax audit issues. Preparation of audit reserves.
Review purchase orders to ensure tax is being applied correctly.
Prepare monthly manual reporting tax files, provide G/L extracts and post journal entries.
Review customer and supplier contracts for proper sales and use tax determination and provide tax saving opportunities when available.
Perform tax research and analysis on various sales/use tax issues to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.
Issue resolution and facilitation related to, customer and supplier tax disputes, unabsorbed tax credits,
transactions held for review, intercepted customer payments, invalid BUC/ADN’s, exemption certificate requests and reviews, reconciliation issues and other sales tax related items received from business or outsourced provider.
- Interact and support other GE tax teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related field
Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience or equivalent in industry
Strong technical background that includes an understanding of the relationship between sales and use tax technical issues and solutions and the compliance process
Adaptable/flexible: being open to change (positive or negative) in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, positive attitude, good analytical skills and the ability to work within a matrixed organization
Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner
Self-motivated and able to manage cross-functional teams
Experience managing projects
Solid PC skills: experience with financial systems/applications (Oracle/SAP, HFM, Business Objects, etc.)
Strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (pivot tables, VLookup, Macros, etc.)
Fluent in English
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
