The Lead Accountant will drive technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate financial reporting for GE's retirement plans (including GE’s affiliate businesses) within the US Pension Accounting Center of Excellence. Partnership with GE’s Corporate stakeholders, outside service providers and the GE businesses is critical to accurate reporting.
Provide accounting support for GE’s retirement plans, including journal entries, account reconciliations and quarterly and yearly reporting
Prepare financial statements and workpapers for the retirement plans
Review account reconciliations and other work of more junior accountants for accuracy with GAAP
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders in order to implement process improvements that will streamline tasks and increase capacity
Understand and interpret applicable Enterprise Standards, SOP and Process Maps to deliver globally competitive accounting services
Special projects as needed to enhance business compliance and controllership
Responsible for general accounting and pension policy application
May allocate and be responsible for the quality of work in others
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Finance or Accounting).
Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Accounting or Finance Operations.
