General Electric Lead Accountant - Pension Accounting in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

Responsible for providing accounting support for GE’s US retirement plans. Includes regulatory reporting, technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls and process simplifications to deliver accurate financial reporting along with high quality shared services to the GE Businesses. Developing conceptual knowledge of US retirement plan requlations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting support for GE’s affiliate pension plans, including preparation of journal entries, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations and quarterly and yearly reporting

  • Prepare yearly financial statements and workpapers for each of the retirement plans; provide information and test work support to our external auditor during the annual plan audits

  • Prepare account reconciliations and understand processes for all pension-related receivables. Drive any outstanding issues to resolution.

  • Develop process improvements that will streamline tasks and increase capacity

  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of established parameters

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in accounting or finance and 4 plus years of relevant experience OR 8 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.

  • Legal authorization to work in the USA is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
