General Electric GM, North Americas Services Leader in Schenectady, New York

Role Summary:

The GM, North Americas Services Leader plays a key role within the North America Region. The Americas platform, a $6B P&L, is expecting significant volume growth in ‘19/’20. This position is responsible for mitigating project risk and ensuring services fulfillment is managed flawlessly. This position plays a critical role in developing a best in class workplace culture and is responsible for cultivating deep partnerships with cross functional teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

As the GM, North Americas Service Leader, you will:

  • Provide full scope of leadership for a team of 900+ employees, including performance evaluation, annual assessment, salary planning, and employee development and engagement

  • Drive organizational and functional effectiveness to achieve business goals and develop employees

  • Create a workplace environment & culture which enables Onshore Wind to attract of new, qualified talent to the organization

  • Be responsible for the financial performance of multiple projects within The U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Ensure all team members are trained and compliant on the processes, tools and methods

  • Participate in development and lead the execution of the Services growth strategy

  • Ensure that customer and partner relationships are proactively managed

  • Be responsible for building strong long-term relationships with specific customers within the region

  • Lead complete field resource management efforts

  • Support all O&M operational processes

  • Lead efforts to ensure customer service excellence for assigned customers

  • Partner with Services Engineering to accomplish effective support of region customer service objectives

  • Manage cost control, quality, and operations-oriented customer communications

  • Implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conduct field work in compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations, and encourage good employee safety practices

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management or 8 years of cross functional experience in domains such as supply chain, logistics, construction, product management, sales or engineering

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role

Desired Characteristics:

  • High energy level - self-starter

  • Strong skills in customer relationship building, facilitation, and matrix management

  • Ability to drive and manage change in a dynamic environment

  • Deep technical knowledge of product lines and associated systems

  • Strong people management, team building, performance management, strategic and operations planning, process management, negotiation, and relationship management skills

  • Six Sigma training (GE Employees only)

  • Proven ability to effectively manage a team / organization

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leaderships skills

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Significant Project, Construction, Field Engineering and/or Contract Management experience in power industry

  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required
