Job Description Summary
The Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) is a two-year program with four rotations, each six months in duration. Assignments will vary but will relate to commercial operations, pricing, marketing, product sales, or other sales support functions. CLPs are expected to be active outside of their main roles by taking part in or leading various small projects, committees, and other activities.
Program participants will strengthen their commercial, business, and leadership skills by completing an intensive curriculum of classroom, hands-on and online training.
Within GE’s Offshore Wind business CLPs will be expected to participate in a range of commercial activities related to the sale of offshore wind turbine equipment and services globally. These activities and roles can vary from data analytics, marketing or process optimization to customer bid preparation and deal negotiations.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Throughout the two years duration of the program, the assignments will vary depending on business requirements and the off-program role objectives. However, the CLP can expect the following responsibilities at one point or another during program:
Build, prepare and negotiate commercial offers, including the preparation of terms and conditions and internal costing information
Develop technical proposals
Perform value optimization on deals accounting for competitive situations
Present the deal risk profile of your projects to the business and obtain the necessary approvals to bid
Present the offer to customers and negotiate the commercial or technical terms
Work closely with the commercial team to support development of the overall business growth strategy, including market analysis and market opportunities identification and execution of the sales growth plan
Support the Sales Managers to define the sales strategy for targeted clients and develop a thorough understanding and analysis of the core markets.
Undergo formal mentoring and coaching by senior management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant science degree, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems or Industrial Engineering. Non-engineering degrees considered for candidates who demonstrate technical aptitude and competency.
Academic Excellence; Minimum 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (out of 4.0)
0-3 years of work experience post-university graduation
English fluency both written and spoken
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

Strong interest in the Renewable Energy industry
Prior intern or co-op experience, or relevant work experience preferably in sales, sales support, or marketing in the Energy industry.
Location Clarification:
Job location will be in Schenectady, NY with a potential rotation or off-program location in Boston, MA.
