As a member of Energy Consulting, the Application Engineer will be an active contributor to GE business initiatives related to power systems equipment and services.
As the Application Engineer, you will:
Contribute to project teams that perform modelling, testing and technical analyses of electrical power plant dynamic performance, including thermal, wind and solar plants
Perform technical analysis using commercial simulation tools and user-written programs based on fundamentals of electrical engineering and power systems
Document technical analysis in detailed, concise, analytical reports, as well as in dialog and/or presentations
Contribute to GE systems engineering activities, including studies, internal product development and service support, analysis during project execution, sales and marketing functions
Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are prized
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on electrical power systems from an accredited university or college
- Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time
MSEE, PhD and/or advanced degree with focus on electric power systems
Professional experience in electric power systems engineering (i.e., industrial power plant engineering, transmission or distribution planning, power plant modeling, integration analysis of conventional and renewable power plants, standards / regulations for power system equipment design and operation)
Strong understanding of technical fundamentals, including a deep understanding of electrical circuit theory and feedback control systems
Proficiency with power systems tools (PowerFactory, PowerWorld, PSLF, PSS / E, MAPS, Plexos, PSCAD, ATP, ASPEN, EasyPower)
Active participation within industry professional societies (IEEE, CIGRE, AWEA) and/or other industry stature (EIT, PE license)
Proficiency with programming tools (Python, MATLAB, MathCad)
Passion for working in an open / collaborative environment where colleagues welcome opportunities to assist each other in solving challenging technical problems
Desire to continually learn new concepts / tools and be among the first in the power systems industry to apply them
Ability to solve complex problems through engineering analysis and design principles
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office
