Essential Responsibilities
As the FACTS Project Engineer, you will:
Write high voltage equipment specifications, issue material purchase request forms,andevaluate vendor quotations for FACTS equipment including capacitors, reactors, rotatingequipment, high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnects, power transformers, highvoltage cable, and protection and control systems
Work closely with designers in the development of detailed design drawings, bills-of-material
(BOM) and cable schedules for complex electrical infrastructure projects
Develop and execute start-up, testing and commissioning plans
Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, controlengineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders andsupport organizations
Contribute toproposals including writing and / or reviewing technical specifications, estimatingdesign man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designersand draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions aswell as technical responses
Contribute tocost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low cost vendorselection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new productintroduction
Contribute toRCA's (root cause analysis) and execute corrective actions
Supportproject quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s DegreeOR Master’s Degreein Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and willingnessto travel up to 20% as required, which may include remote locations andinternational travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Desired Characteristics
Professional Engineering registration (within the U.S.).
Prior FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) application or design experience
Experience in mechanical and civil engineering
Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and
Experience in installation, field-testing and commissioning of HV equipment, including required safe work habits
Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Demonstrated creativity and ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget
Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs
Good presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as
Project Management
Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, and familiarity with
AutoCAD and Microstation
Ability to automate design tasks through Visual Basic programming of Excel, AutoCAD or Microstation
Ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided
The salary range for this position is 77,500 - 96,900 - 116,300 Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
