General Electric Senior Engineering Manager in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Role Summary:

The Latin America Senior Engineering Manager for Construction has full engineering responsibilities for the technical scope of projects been bid and executed in the region.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive safety and quality;

  • Engineering focal point for the region during the application and construction phases;

  • Manage applications engineering team to increase market share and apply GE products to customer applications in order to maximize energy outputs while managing cost;

  • Work with other teams (sales, construction, procurement, etc) to improve engineering processes to deliver high quality fulfillment and On Time;

  • Drive simplification of overall engineering procedures focusing on staying lean to go fast;

  • Identify, plan, and execute high impact programs that deliver bottom-line growth;

  • Manage and communicate business KPIs priorities (Safety, OTD, quality and cost) in Engineering;

  • Own and drive engineering financial and strategic planning in Engineering;

  • Effectively work between all teams working on cost efficiencies in fulfillment and warranty;

  • Own, drive, and program manage cost out for the construction projects in LATAM;

  • Manage team (priorities, filtering, development, coaching, etc);

  • Drive certification plans and priorities within Engineering;

  • Attract and retain talent: hire, manage, empower, inspire, and grow / train employees;

  • Understand other turbine platforms well enough to act as a regional proponent when necessary;

  • Demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Automation Engineering;

  • Black belt certification;

  • 15 years engineering experience minimum;

  • Experience in the energy market;

  • Leadership/Engineering management experience;

  • Fluent in Portuguese and English;

  • Spanish is a plus.

Available to travel around 20% of the time within Brazil and Latin America

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering;

  • Quality experience (green belt / black belt);

  • Experience on Automatio;

  • Experience in Application engineering (sales plan interface, strategy, tailor made solutions to customers, competitive advantage play);

  • Experience leading a Wind Turbine design and/or Systems team;

  • Experience leading Engineering budgets and programs;

  • Comfortable with a matrix environment;

  • Ability to summarize and clear communicate complex technical information;

  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills;

  • Curiosity, passion for excellence, drive to deliver on-time;
