General Electric Principal Digital Product Manager in San Ramon, California

Role Summary:

As Principal Digital Product Manager, you will be responsible for creating strong working relationships with and influencing across executive leadership, commercial and marketing teams, product management, engineering & functional groups. You will shape and execute portfolio roadmap, and will represent it to the outside market, customers, partners, and analysts, as well as with GE internal stakeholders and teams. You may mentor one or more junior product managers.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will work in lock-step with application or domain leaders acting as a product manager to create a clear strategic direction that will be delivered by the product development team. You will direct the team with a clear and descriptive set of requirements and deliver product features and functions by balancing customer need with business strategy, minimized defects, and technical debt. Your priority is seamless integration and alignment of perspectives from a broad set of stakeholders including but not limited to: Customers, Partners, Process Owners, Enterprise Architects, Application Managers, Development teams and Technical Architects.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Product line performance with targets on orders, revenue, cost & margin.

  • Being a domain/business expert for the portfolio to guide and mentor teams, and establish/refine product management processes.

  • Engaging customers, and partners at business & technical levels to develop/refine and execute portfolio strategy, influence customer and industry direction, roadmap and development lifecycle.

  • Identifying and influencing market trends and opportunities.

  • Working cross functionally across engineering, marketing, sales, internal and external customers, analysts and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy.

  • Establishing and managing a strong working relationship and influence across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners, customers and technical experts across industries and geographies; including with account managers, technical sales and user/developer community.

  • A large product or portfolio of products/solutions with typical revenue influence / target in the range of $25-100M USD per year.

  • Having strong financial acumen and accountability.

  • Engaging customers as a trusted partner.

  • Cross functional leadership to define and execute the vision and strategy. Demonstrate substantial experience with the technology stack and its impact on the final product

Qualifications/Requirements:Desired Characteristics:

  • 5 years of experience as product manager

  • Cross functional leadership to define and execute the vision and strategy.

  • Strong software engineering background

  • Having strong financial acumen and accountability.

  • Experience working with peer product managers, customers and internal stakeholders

  • Familiarity with SaaS architectures and business models, Cloud operations, Big Data and streaming analytics,

  • Experience with Platform products and Platform as a Service (PaaS) - advantage

  • Experience in IIOT - advantage

  • Experience with analytics platforms - advantage

    Technical Expertise:

  • Proactively drives portfolio and investment decision to balance customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long term enterprise differentiation.

  • Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings and considers business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations

  • Defines and/or influences pricing strategy for product/ services and alignment across functions and organizations

  • Aligns goals, feature sets, capabilities to business objectives for the product (i.e. Profitability, ROI, Market Penetration, Channel development, Brand Development, etc.)

  • Strong technical expertise in the underlying design and architecture of cloud based software

  • Strong strategic analysis and commercial P&L skills

  • Proficiency in tools supporting product lifecycle management tools such as Jira, Aha!, Rally, etc.

    Business Acumen:

  • Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills

  • Evangelizes new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends

  • Identifies the customer’s business and strategic needs, concerns, and desires for the value delivery capabilities of the products

  • Establishes relationships in the market intelligence and research community

  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization, with customers, partners, and other GE businesses

    Leadership:

  • Adopts a holistic systems perspective. Empathizes with multiple points of view. Challenges assumptions

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to help build effective processes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
