Role Summary:The CIO, GE Digital serves as a key member of the senior-management team for the GE Digital organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

Own IT’s vision, strategy, budget and portfolio:

  • Define the vision and mission of the IT team; invoke high spirits in a distributed environment.

  • Simplify total cost of IT – from within benchmark (4% of sales) to world class (2% of sales).

  • Continually improve the Portfolio Kanban, Backlog and Delivery processes

Be an active member of the GE Digital Leadership Team:

  • Proactively advise the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on the emerging technologies and digital trends that are most relevant to the company's goals and evolving needs.

  • Using Portfolio Kanban, ensure that every single work item has an associated dollar value – and tie the value to the business value drivers and success metrics.

  • Ruthlessly prioritize requests across the business; facilitate discussions across the SLT to generate buy-in for large program decisions.

  • Evangelize new opportunities possible with technology investment; challenge status quo and drive data/digital disruption

  • Provide guidance to Commercial teams – act as a resource for various sales and marketing teams, providing valuable input as a buyer persona of enterprise software.

  • Provide guidance to Product teams – act as an infrastructure operations expert, helping the engineering team focus on product quality and meeting customer needs.

Dramatically improve end user experience:

  • Partner with Corporate to dramatically improve end user Net Promoter Scores.

  • Increase GED’s ownership of the experience – simplify personas served; implement rigorous testing and change management before deploying changes to users.

  • Drive continual improvement on end user imaging; drive towards a defect-free, pleasant user experience where things that should work, just work.

Finish a full-scale transformation:

  • Continue the transition from Project to Product; both organizationally and group mindset.

  • Continue driving the team towards Agile-Lean methodologies, driving high adoption of DevOps tools (QA automation and CI/CD), and basic ITIL practices.

  • Simplify a bloated architecture due to mergers and shadow IT; reduce application count to industry benchmarks; provide a clean data-driven view of business activities.

  • Ensure a smooth implementation of a singular GED ERP (Oracle Fusion Cloud) through 2022.

  • Influence & facilitate program definition to re-implement a deprecated Salesforce instance, moving to Salesforce suite (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Communities, Lightning, Heroku, custom apps, etc.).

  • Influence the business to see data as an asset versus maintenance tasks.

  • Move to service-oriented organization that values self-service methodologies – take IT out of most processes, giving liberties to citizen developers.

Future-proof the organization:

  • Implement privacy and compliance by design into continuous delivery.

  • Build formal career paths and grow young talent pipeline, both on and offshore.

  • Managed in/outsource mix; insource key roles to increase quality and continuity of products.

  • Prioritize employee engagement, foster a growth mindset by seeking opportunities for employees to develop skills aligned with their interests, strengths and needs of the business.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

  • A minimum 12 years of professional experience.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

Desired Characteristics:

  • A minimum of 12 years work experience, ideally in information technology, information management, engineering or related roles.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years work experience as a CIO partnering with a business
