General Electric Lead Engineer - Testing in Salem, Virginia

Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, construct and lead execution of new product design validation testing for low and medium voltage power electronic equipment.

  • Participate in technical reviews to evaluate new product and agency requirements specifications for completeness and clarity for testing. Provide feedback for constant process and product improvement.

  • Design requirements based validation test cases and procedures for reuse.

  • Ensure all specified test results captured, documented and archived.

  • Evaluate to ensure complete test coverage. Document supporting evidence.

  • Establish and maintain traceability of requirements to testing results.

  • Documenting all defects found and abnormal behaviors.

  • Understand product and requirements to develop manufacturing testing specifications.

  • Participate in failure analysis, root cause and corrective actions

  • Participate in Arc Flash analysis

  • Validate systems to agency requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (BSEE) from an accredited university or college or equivalent

Desired Characteristics

  • Medium Voltage trained with at least 2 years experience

  • Experience with electrical drafting

  • Experience with Arc Flash Analysis
