Job Description Summary
Steam Power Steam Turbine and Generator Engineering Technology require a Non-Destructive Evaluation specialist to join the Materials team.
The NDE specialist will support engineering, supply chain and manufacturing with advising on NDE techniques and procedures, understanding customer and internal requirements, approving NDE specifications (internal and from suppliers), investigation of NCRs and involvement in RCAs.
The NDE specialist will report to the Leader of the Materials Group in Technology.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities within their technical domain :
Providing specialist technical support for order execution to the supply chain and engineering.
Developing and qualifying new suppliers of steam turbine components (including large forgings, casting and fabrications).
Contributing to root cause analyses of failures
Reviewing and approving NDE specifications.
Developing new NDE procedures as required.
Developing best working practices in collaboration with the NDE Principal Engineer.
Communicating within supplier and customers as required to support the business objectives.
Occasional international travel to suppliers and customers as required.
Internationally recognised Level III certification in NDE techniques used for large forgings, castings and other steam turbine components (UT, PT, MT, VT, RT, etc.).
Technical knowledge in the domain, covering both the technology and the product.
