The purpose of the role is to assemble supplied parts both mechanical and electrical to drawings and produce high quality electrical rotating machines of varying size from pre assembly, main assembly through to final shipping.
Job Description
Main duties include:
Mechanical fitting - preparing and building machines for test, fitting drives, couplings, lubrication and cooling systems
Sub assembly prep work - assembling mains and neutral terminal boxes, exciter bases, frames
Threading of rotors, fitting bearings, setting air gaps, drilling and dowelling
Instrumentation fitting and wiring
Pipe bending/threading
Measuring various components to tight tolerances with micrometers, verniers, bore mics, DTI gauges
Machine/shaft alignment
Preparation of machine for dispatch – labels, earths, couplings, transit gear
Working safely at all times within EHS guidelines
Maintaining the standards in the process and procedures during manufacture
Achieving production and quality targets
Liaising with Area and Team Leaders and other departments
Maintaining a clean and tidy work area in line with 5S standards
Key skills/abilities:
Skilled mechanical fitter
Electrical skills required for the fitting and wiring of instrumentation, auxiliary box wiring
Ability to work to and measure to tight tolerances – comfortable using measuring equipment
Previous experience of mechanical and electrical fitting to a recognised standard
Ability to work to drawings and schematics with complete accuracy, understanding geometric tolerances and key symbols
Ability to work within a team, use own initiative to meet production targets and deadlines
Flexible to meet business needs, reliable and a positive attitude
Available to work shifts, specifically late shift and flexible to support overtime as required
Ability to work to instructions and quality standards, completing quality documentation
Well organised and accurate with a high attention to detail
Previous experience working on rotating machinery would be beneficial
