/ Sourcing Specialist to work in GE Steam Power at Rugby, UK.
The business has been supporting the Royal Navy for many years and has a long history of success. The role involves working on high value and long-term Naval projects on key commodities.
We have a small multifunctional team working on defence OEM equipment, for both new and service customers. Our products support the strategical defence of the country, being important for the security of the nation.
As the Lead Buyer, you will work with key suppliers and develop new ones where necessary. We have long term contracts in place and are currently bidding on new projects for progression soon. It is an exciting time to enter the team, where you will have the ability to shape the future business and supply chain going forward.

Roles and Responsibilities
Define supplier strategy including management and optimization of supplier panels. Lead negotiations and allocate needs to specific suppliers. Negotiate terms and conditions and transmit information to Procurement. Manage claims. Includes commercial sourcing management such as data analysis, negotiations support, etc. This may also include purchasing activities.
Developing in-depth knowledge of a discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired expertise to execute functional policy/strategy.
A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor, with proven interpersonal skills. Communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services rendered. Provides informal guidance to new team members. Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
Impacts projects, processes and procedures in own field. The role operates with some autonomy, but is focused on execution of activities/provision of advice within an enabling discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Activities require professional judgment, but may require more senior levels of guidance.
Utilizes technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering or business commercial discipline or equivalent knowledge & experience
Demonstrable years of sourcing and procurement experience with in-depth experience in high-value and complex projects.
Experience within procurement / senior / lead buyer type roles with defence or power industry related products.
Supplier market knowledge.
Main suppliers are UK based, must be able to travel on a frequent basis.
Proactive and pragmatic in their approach to managing the supplier (s)
Be able to manage various workstreams at the same time.
Management of change.
Experience on SAP, Microsoft packages including MS Project.
