As a Modelling engineer you work as part of a specialised team to deliver industry software for predictive mathematical modeling used in rolling mill automation applications.
Job Description
In this role you will support the engineering activity for production and configuration of modelling software from receipt of a project order through to final commissioning at site.
In detail, the successful applicant will need to:
Support data analysis and model fitting (existing model library) .
Support models design and software implementation.
Produce detailed functional specifications.
Software development and unit testing.
Undertake on-site commissioning and model tuning.
Provide technical consultancy and training to customers.
Ensure that relevant customer, reliability, contract and regulatory technical requirements on the allocated projects are met.
Identify technical risks on the projects and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI), fulfilment and commissioning.
Provide support to the sales and proposals team working on new prospects.
Support an environment of continual improvement, which includes leading lessons learned activities and providing continual feedback to the engineering design team.
Comply with GE EHS regulations.
We are looking for a committed and professional individual with
Strong degree with honours in Mathematics, Physics, Materials, Electrical Engineering or related subjects
Demonstrable experience in industry and/or post graduate academic research.
High level of capability for software programming in ‘C’/’C++’ or similar language.
Good knowledge of standard mathematical tools especially Matlab.
Degree modules including mathematical control theory and materials
Knowledge of software production methodologies for high quality software
Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes, particularly metal industries (rolling mills, process lines, etc.).
