Job Description
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for operating various Manual and CNC machines within the business to achieve maximum efficiency within the standard operating procedures.
Main responsibilities:
Carry out operational activities on CNC Machines.
Setting and Operating of CNC machining including 4/5 axis machines
Be able to edit NC programs and have excellent and proven milling machining experience
Ensure processes are implemented in an efficient manner in line with business targets
Ensure quality of product and operations to meet drawing and customer requirements to standard best practices
Work as a team with the department, across shifts and across products and support and implement the needs of the business in terms of operational flexibility
Ensure all machine, shift and weekly targets are achieved in line with cost, quality and EHS requirements
Support and take part in all EHS, Quality, Continuous Improvement and New Product initiatives
To act according to defined Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety instructions, including general and company own rules.
To undertake any other duty and responsibility as may be required by the LineManager
Basic Skills and Qualifications:
Time served craft apprentice or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Knowledge of CNC programming to enable program editing
Significant experience operating CNC machines
Experience in General industrial manufacturing environment.
Desired Skills:
Large lathe experience required with Siemens 840D control experience
Experience of 5 axis machining
Steam turbine and/or Generator component knowledge
Continuous Improvement/Lean experience desirable
Knowledge of all CNC Machining, Milling, Vertical Turning, Boring, Centre lathe turning and basic manual machines
