Job Description Summary

The EHS Leader will provide site support to a fixed facility. Within this role, they will apply their environmental knowledge and expertise to solve problems, develop & execute objectives while having the ability to effect short & long term compliance and business goals. Work closely with operations to drive implementation of programs to ensure all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE management system requirements are met. The successful candidate must be a proven leader, facilitator, and coach to bring focus, efficiency, and accelerate preventative program execution.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Individuals located at manufacturing sites and fixed facilities (e.g., a service shop or O&M site) that provide day-to-day EHS support for that facility.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance for the sites, by ensuring any required permits, reporting and policies are in place and current.

  • Conduct learning teams in response to EHS events and conduct/validate accident investigations to determine root cause and proactive solutions.

  • Conduct EHS audits in support of compliance assurance activities.

  • Provide tactical issue resolution.

  • Work closely with operations team to identify and address EHS issues related to site operations, equipment and site design, installation, and commissioning.

  • Coordinate, develop and conduct EHS trainings and materials and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Assist with EHS program implementation, identify gaps and provide guidance on improvement opportunities.

  • Provide day-to-day EHS support for facility with high level shopfloor presence

  • Partner with Operations leadership and hourly employees to ensure safety practices are understood and embraced

  • Participate in site EHS inspections, audits to identify EHS deficiencies and define actions to close gaps, resolve issues

  • Follow up and support to close ATS findings, employee concerns, Gensuite compliance calendar tasks

  • Lead and document EHS incident investigations

  • Provide input, develop and maintain the area risk assessments

  • Support project managers to meet GE EHS requirements related to works performed by contractors at the area of responsibility

  • Provide EHS support for different type of changes at the site (for ex.: new machine installation, layout changes…)

  • Participate in GE EHS initiatives and programs

  • Support authority inspections, GE audits

  • Subject matter expert of some EHS Framework topics, keeping the programs up to date

  • Implement / modify related environmental programs and procedures to ensure compliance.

  • Modify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems.

  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and direct assistance to ensure site compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and permit requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 7 years EHS experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS with a focus in a manufacturing/industrial environment
