General Electric Supplier Development Engineer in Rivalta di Torino, Italy

Role Summary:

As Supplier Development Engineer, you will be responsible to drive the development of new/critical suppliers to meet capability, capacity, quality and delivery target leading an interfunctional team. You will perform Suppliers Capacity and Risk Assessment and be accountable for the results and risk mitigation actions in front of Leadership and Customers. You will define jointly with the supplier the plan aimed to guarantee a full recovery of the gaps and ensure a full and timely execution of it.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead an interfunctional team (with Procurement, Commodities and Supplier Quality) to define supplier development plans for selected critical suppliers focused on quality, delivery, capacity and supplier process capability;

  • Partnering with the scouting team, select the suppliers to develop starting from potential suppliers list;

  • Lead visits at key supplier sites to perform Capacity, Capabilities and Risk assessment;

  • Support sourcing commodities meeting with customers, providing supplier capacity data and improvement plan status;

  • Identify improvement and risk mitigation opportunities at key supplier sites and manage these improvement activities;

  • Prepare report about suppliers development status to share with internal leadership and customers;

  • Drive execution of suppliers performance improvement plans, with both internal and external partners, to collaboratively pursue solutions and closure of action plans;

  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes and product manufacturing capabilities;

  • Working with Avio Aero Continuous Improvement team (lean manufacturing, six sigma, etc.), assist selected suppliers in their journey to become lean;

  • Develop strong supplier relationships with regular communication and onsite visits;

  • Based on supplier visit outcomes, support commodities and NPI team in the selection of new/alternative sources.


  • Aerospace/Mechanical engineering degree from an accredited university

  • Solid experience in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and/or related fields

  • Experience in Supplier Evaluation, Assessment or auditing

  • Strong influence, collaboration and relationship-building skills both internally and externally with suppliers

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines and ability to think strategically

  • Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily

  • Italian and English fluent

  • EU Work/Stay PermitAvailability to travel

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of main manufacturing processes and aeroengine modules components

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing

  • Problem solving attitude
