Job Description Summary
At Avio Aero, a GE Aviation Business unit, we’ve been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.
As General Machining & Farmout (GM&F) Commodity Buyer you will report directly to Commodity Leader, managing the buying process for a given set of direct Suppliers across Avio Aero operations.
In this role you will apply sourcing policy, interface between suppliers and requestors with respect to specifications and budget. This role requires from you understanding of concepts, methods and procedures to enable sourcing execution.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Manage the sourcing process, from evaluation of requestor’s requirements to PO placement
Be responsible for best efficiency for procured goods and services, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs
Evaluate current requirements, determine potential sources, prepare tenders
Solicit and evaluate proposals
Apply cost and price analysis techniques, using available expertise from supporting organizations
Negotiate PO and/or purchase contracts, following applicable company and government regulations
Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects
Coordinate procurement of assigned commodities to meet the requirements of GE
Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in all dealings with supply base and internal customers
Qualifications/Requirements
Master degree from accredited University (Engineering preferred)
Proven cost savings procurement actions
Proven analytical and problem solving skills, with sound judgment and a diplomatic attitude
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
Ability to handle several activities simultaneously, manage multiple priorities and resolve appropriately
Professional working knowledge of SAP MRP software system
Familiarity with GD&T
Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Word)
Highly motivated team member
Proactivity, Customer orientation, initiative, autonomy
Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken
Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required

Ability to handle issues around cost increases and how to mitigate them
