General Electric Engine Fluid and Thermal Management System Lead Engineer in Rivalta di Torino, Italy

Job Description Summary

The evolutive trend of engine thermodynamic cycles and architectures (including Hybrid Electric, new fuels and innovative heat management) on next engine generations will require new capabilities in terms of temperature and flows controls.

Purpose of the job is:

  • Work with PD team to support engines concepts definition from fluid systems and thermal management point of view; specific focus will be addressed towards hybrid configurations and/or next generation military propulsion.

  • Identify enabling technologies and knowledge gaps for thermal control systems. Define the development roadmaps and lead specific activities needed to increase the TRL level through both simplified rig validation and complete engine demos. Leverage funding opportunity to guarantee proper technological maturation execution.

  • Work within an international network, both internal and external of GE, involving research institution, universities, industrial partners able to support the required developments; organize, consolidate and proper disseminate the created knowledge in the reference disciplines.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible to

  • define technological roadmaps in coordination with other ATO Sub Sections (Engine performance, Preliminary Design, Additive technology…) to meet engine system fluid and thermal requirements.

  • Integrate, evaluate and analyze the solutions within the Engine Preliminary Design studies.

  • Lead the development of the advanced Engine Air System and Heat Exchange solutions to support new thermodynamic cycles and electrification needs.

  • Support PD studies on new fighter architectures with thermal evaluations, and proactive proposals.

  • Create and manage the necessary practices and legacy database through the current available engines data and specific studies.


  • Master’s degree in mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Knowledge of key aeronautical engines layout and architecture.

  • Fluency in English and Italian language, both written and oral.

  • Experience with standard fluid/thermal simulation tools

  • Good knowledge of fluid-dynamic and heat exchange basics

  • Good knowledge of Windows based tools;

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience in development of aerospace or industrial product or technology.

  • EU Work Permit

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge and experience in CFD tools/numerical modelling.

  • Experience in experimental campaign related to fluid/thermal measurements.

  • Capability of planning and external teams coordination

  • Neat and inquiring thinking – lateral thinking
