Job Description Summary
Perform Non-Destructive Testing on products using a variety of procedures specific to job requirements, interpret the results of testing, and document following established procedures.
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following (may perform other functions that may be assigned):
Perform NDT testing using a variety of procedures specific to job requirements (i.e. GE, Alstom, ASME, AWS, ASTM, etc.)
Is familiar with DIN (European) standards.
Documents test performance following established procedures.
Monitor performance of welding and stress relief processes to specifications.
Authority to release conforming product.
Coordinates activities and monitors quality of NDT suppliers.
Initiate NCR to document non-conformance product.
Initiate Corrective Action Request to document violation of quality system.
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
Maintain daily process controls of solutions and daily setups, work from blueprints, drawings, charts, tables and technique sheets.
Maintain liaison with other departments and personnel furnishing or obtaining information.
Maintains a clean and orderly area.
Performs work following all applicable safety procedures and policies.
Directs and trains others as assigned.
Performs work of a QC Inspector on as needed basis.
Qualifications / Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 2 years experience as a ASNT Level II on at least two (2) processes - UT, PT, MT, ET, or VT - as well as Level I on two (2) of the remaining processes)
Minimum of 3 years experience in NDT inspections.
Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime
Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
Legal authorization of work in the U.S. is required. All offers of employment are conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
Knowledge of the manufacturing materials tested (steels, aluminum, copper, etc.) and their reactions with chemicals such as acids, chlorides, and alkalines
Minimum 1 year of experience in power generation equipment
Intermediate computer skills
Documented training and competency in the following areas:
Communication skills training
Basic precision measuring (Metric System)
Basic Gas Turbine Technology (Home Study Course)
Personal protective equipment training
Reading and understanding work orders
Experience with Ultrasonic Testing
