Role Summary:The purpose of the Commercial Leader, Renewables role is to develop commercial solutions and
proposals, internally and with our customers, that facilitate closing profitable and executable
orders for the supply, installation and long-term operation of wind turbines and associated
equipment on wind farm projects. This role has a focus on the Australian market, with potential
extension to targeted developing markets within the wider APAC regional business from time to
- Develop winning strategies to close profitable and executable orders for the highly competitive
Onshore Wind segment of the Renewables Business.
Mobilise and lead multi functional and global support teams to implement transaction strategy on complex, multi-million dollar transactions within our region.
Internal functions coordinated in this process include Application
Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Finance, Legal, EHS, Project Delivery and Service
Lead the preparation and submission of firm bids, contract negotiations, and finalisation of contract documentation to achieve financial close and order intake.
- Manage handover from
Proposals phase (up to order commitment) to Project Delivery phase (fulfillment of project order),
including coordination of EPC project bidding and delivery consortia comprising GE and balance of
plant construction contractors.
Provide commercial support to the Renewables
Sales team for budgetary proposals and studies during opportunity development, including assessment of cost base, pricing and commercial terms.
Provide technical, profitability, and commercial inputs to support the internal Risk Management processes for transactions.
Support achievement of Commercial Team metrics related to proposal transactions.
Degree qualification in Engineering, Law or a relevant commercial discipline.
Postgraduate degree in addition is preferred, for example MBA.
Proven commercial experience with thermal or wind power plant products, or similar complex equipment.
Demonstrated experience in bid preparation and contract negotiation for turnkey (EPC) or similar scope power plant projects, ideally in wind energy.
Demonstrated experience in project management and execution for thermal or renewable power plant projects, including an understanding of construction and operational
issues associated with these types of projects.
Working knowledge of construction legal principles and related contract structures.
Ability to take the lead in negotiations, understand relevant technical issues, deploy effective problem-solving skills and exercise sound commercial initiative and judgement.
Highly motivated team player, self-starter with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated evidence of successful commercial performance in an international matrix management structure.
Ability to perform effectively in a non hierarchical, team type environment.
Ability to travel as required domestically with some international travel in the ASEAN region
Fluency in English; ability to develop concepts into written material that is clear, accurate and concise.
Hold the appropriate eligibility, at date of application, to work in Australia & New Zealand
