General Electric Senior Sales Manager - Offshore Wind in Remote, New Hampshire

Job Description Summary

The Sales Manager will be responsible for establishing and enhancing relationships at multiple levels with defined customer accounts, ensuring a thorough understanding of customer needs & expectations, and an alignment of our commercial positioning to drive sustainable and profitable business.

Managing these account relationships, the Sales Manager will engage closely with the Offshore Wind team & other stakeholders to develop winning proposals including technology, financing, project execution and services activities for complex Offshore Wind generation projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Establish customer relationships with offshore wind developers at multiple levels within the organization including key influencers.

  • Understand customer initiatives and priorities and how offshore wind is able to address these requirements and align our growth strategy to these needs.

  • Develop a detailed account management strategy for each customer in order to pursue new business opportunities and enhance our mutual benefit.

  • Identify opportunities driving growth, including proposals and customer requests.

  • Develop customer account mapping and establish customer operating rhythm.

  • Present clear and concise bid strategy for each customer opportunity, outline the goal of each bid.

  • Work with cross functional teams to support customer bid strategy.

  • Identify, develop and leverage financial constructs to support strategic bids.

  • Use SalesForce to track and update opportunities.

  • Support strategy and growth initiatives for the Offshore Wind business.

  • Engage in negotiation processes as needed to close deals.

  • Proficient at developing differentiated tax credit (investment tax credit) strategies where applicable.

  • Demonstrate domain expertise and exceptional networking and communication skills.

  • Provide Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback to the Strategic Marketing and Product Line teams.

  • Participate in quality initiatives to drive process rigor and improvements in process.

  • Partner with Product Line and Commercial Operations to drive revenue and contribution margin growth in services.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships within GE, GE Renewable Energy or with external stakeholders to ensure an enterprise-view of the operating environment and the impact on our customer relationships.

  • Develop a culture supportive of the key foundations of Humility, Transparency & Delivering with Focus, ensuring effective communication across the organization, engaging with colleagues at all levels to ensure understanding and alignment with goals.

  • Provide leadership development and performance feedback to team members, coach and mentor across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Minimum 8 years of demonstrable experience in Sales, Account Management or Commercial role.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven track record in the Wind market and relevant expertise in Power Generation and/or Offshore Wind industry, with demonstrated sales and leadership skills & capabilities, including significant experience building customer relationships in the Energy industry and negotiating/closing large & complex deals.

  • Technical proficiency in offshore wind turbine technology and execution plan development.

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering is preferred.

  • Expertise building strategic relationships in B-t-B environment.

  • Strong communication skills and confidence with senior level presentations, combined with reasoning skills and ability to identify & explain critical issues.

  • Experience motivating teams in a cross functional matrix environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, team building, and negotiation skills; ability to work with colleagues and customers at all levels of the organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve problems
