General Electric Construction and Commissioning Hub Leader in Remote, Malaysia

Job Description Summary

The C&C (Construction and Commissioning) Hub Leader, reporting to the Global C&C & EHS head, will be responsible for the development of a new team of C&C engineers and technicians based in Malaysia, that will primarily address the fulfillment of Hydro projects in the Asia region, and will also serve as resources hub for projects throughout Hydro’s global portfolio. The successful candidate will hire, develop capabilities, and manage the pool of specialists who will supervise/perform construction and commissioning activities. Tasks will be primarily focused on hydro turbines and generators, including valves, piping works, or any other mechanical or electrical auxiliaries/sub-assemblies in the hydro power stations (i.e., Balance of Plant (BOP), controls & governing, etc.).

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Recruit and develop a local C&C team (i.e., Supervisors, Commissioning Technicians, etc.), aimed at fulfilling the needs within the Hydro operating plan.

  • Leverage global training resources to monitor and grow the technical skills of the team, based on gaps and opportunities from capability assessments.

  • Working with C&C Region Heads to effectively dispatch team to projects in execution.

  • Plan for future workload changes and adjust capacity accordingly.

  • Leverage global mobility team to ensure that domestic and international mobilization of people are done timely and compliantly with all applicable rules and regulations.

  • Ensure that they, and their team, remain steadfast in the dedication to Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) & Quality.

  • Contribute to EHS planning, costing, execution strategy, schedule, cost tracking, and site resource planning, for current and future projects.

  • Working with the C&C Sourcing team, as well as the C&C Region Heads, participate to the definition of local partnering strategy and build appropriate local network of key partners to assist GE in executing jobs with receptiveness, quality, and determination.

  • Accountable for planning, utilization, liquidation, & overall energy of the team.

  • Travel to sites as required.

  • Develop & adhere to the EHS tools that are currently deployed across Hydro Solutions;

  • Conduct site visits, client meetings, listen to customer needs, be ready to detect client issues, and promote adequate technical solutions with the assist of the global C&C resources.


  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or management field from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience);

  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of proven ability to effectively manage a team / organization

  • Extensive years of combined experience in project management, operations, field services, engineering, or other related fields

  • Experience in Hydro and power industry will be added advantage

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 15-35% of the time, as needed.
