General Electric Installation Package Manager in Remote, Massachusetts

Job Description Summary

To be part of the Installation Department of GE Wind Offshore. The department is responsible to engineer the offshore installation strategy of the wind turbine components and provides the methods, all the transport and installation tools and manpower, and is responsible to manage the offshore execution.

The candidate will be mobilized on the Ocean Wind project and will be the main interlocutor for all Installation related topics with the customer.

Reporting to the project director the candidate will be responsible to cover the package related to the offshore installation of the Haliade-X wind turbines from load-out of the components at quay side to the handover to commissioning including transfer from feeder barge and installation offshore.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Issue and revise all contractual deliverables including RAMS, lifting plan, mobilization plan to Customer and MWS and internal documentation such tooling list, specifications for equipment and manpower to execute the package

  • Manage all installation interfaces with Customer and marine contractor providing the installation vessel and other contractor such as foundation provider

  • Address all technical questions towards Customer, other Contractors, and internally towards engineering, installation department and project team

  • Organize and plan installation reviews, risk assessments and offshore operations

  • Defines best installation sequence with other function like Supply Chain, Outbound transport and Marshalling harbor

  • Size and recruit the project installation team composed of engineers (Heavy Lifting; Electrical and completion works, Drafstman)

  • Request to the installation department and mobilize in due time all tools for transport and installation purposes together with the Installation department

  • Manage mobilization of GE equipment on vessel and participate to construction phase with the construction leads

  • Specify and select with the Sourcing team the installation and completion work manpower

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering OR strong experience in offshore project execution and management of operations

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in wind, construction or O&G sector

Desired Characteristics:

  • The position will be based in Boston (MA) at the GE office during the engineering phase (circa 18 months) then relocated to the marshalling harbor area anticipated to be in New Jersey

  • Working remotely preferably on the East Coast during the engineering phase is a possibility

  • Experienced in managing multidisciplinary operations on T&I or large EPCI project preferably in offshore wind

  • Experienced in contract management and adverse weather management

  • Good knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge in supply chain management

  • Organized and transparent

  • Good communication skills, high flexibility

  • Able to work within a multicultural team
