General Electric Intellectual Property (IP) Operations Specialist (REMOTE) in Remote, Georgia

Job Description


  • Manage all activities and work plans related to IP-related data integrity and accuracy across GE Aviation’s IP data and process management tools, as well as assisting leadership with complex IP data requests, including driving new system/tool development in support of GE Aviation’s IP management needs

  • Secure resources and support for IP data integrity and process improvement initiatives, and direct/improve processes and procedures to increase efficiencies and effectively resolve issues related to IP management

  • Facilitate IP communications, trainings, quality assurance, investigations, and other operational initiatives, as well as carry out day-to-day review and response to legal requests and inquiries from inventors and other IP stakeholders at the business

  • Design and carry out projects to enhance the IP Operations team's capabilities and operational infrastructure, including reporting out on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the entire IP function

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and documentation relating to all IP department data, databases, and tools

  • Summarize and present investigation results, impacts, and next steps to management in reports, presentations, and meetings

  • Work cross-functionally with professionals in other departments and businesses to capture best practices and eliminate waste

  • Coordinate with our Leadership and Staff to ensure the IP department’s workflow is aligned to priorities and to identify solutions to increase overall efficiency

  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial data

  • Lead in law firm and third-party vendor management programs with the aim of reducing spend, maximizing value, and improving predictability

  • Develop and implement benchmarking initiatives, including spend analysis and efficiency initiatives

  • Assess IP department IT tools & resources related to matter management, knowledge management, document management, and billing management, and implement and manage best in class technology, systems, and processes

  • Manage IP department communications such as newsletters, announcements, and messages from our leadership team


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with at least 2-3 additional years of experience in a business role (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6-7 years of business experience)

  • Working knowledge of Intellectual Property management concepts and processes

  • Keen attention to detail

  • Keen sense of business needs with exceptional aptitude for managing large scale projects from inception to completion

  • Ability to apply project/program management principles to develop plans, track deadlines and measure success

  • Ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities, using strong time management and organizational skills within a team environment

  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities

  • Microsoft Suite (Excel & MACROS)
