General Electric Principal Structural and Thermal Analysis Engineer in Remote, Florida
Job Description Summary
The Principal Structural/Thermal Analysis Engineer is responsible for analysis, design, and verification of propulsion systems. They will lead a team of talented engineering professionals in the development of the most advanced technologies in the industry. The Principal Engineer applies industry standard and advanced computational and additive manufacturing techniques to reacting, high temperature flow fields in support of system and subsystem design, development, ground and flight testing. Structural and thermal analysis includes, but is not limited to, subsystem performance modeling such as combustion systems, hypersonic reacting flow fields, air-breathing inlet/isolator/combustor/nozzle systems, active cooling systems, air-cycle systems, fuel systems, and fluid distribution systems. Critical design and analysis outcomes are predictive performance and validation measures to include forces and moments, mixing, ignition, reaction, heat release, and heat transfer in mixed subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic flow fields. Position responsibilities will also include design for manufacturing, program execution support, post-test verification, and trouble-shooting. This position requires a strong background performing structural thermal analysis as well as CAD/CAM design for additive manufacturing for future high speed supersonic and hypersonic engine systems.
Lead a team to analyze the structural and thermal analysis of combusting, aerodynamic, and aerothermodynamic flow fields in air-breathing propulsion systems across multiple flow speed regimes including subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic.
Develop and implement best practices, team building, and mentoring in analytical design and assessment using current state-of-the-art analytical tools.
Plan, coordinate, and execute in-test and post-test data analysis to extract critical performance and operation parameters.
Participate in certification / qualification testing and reporting.
Prepare and deliver formal design reviews and present design data to Government and industry customers and collaborators.
MS/Ph.D. Degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering discipline from an accredited university and at least 10 years of experience in FEA analysis applied to hot structures.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
U.S. Citizenship Required
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Good understanding of the fundamentals of Ramjet/Scramjet and related advanced propulsion cycles, systems, and air-vehicles
15+ years of experience using and leading teams in the use of engineering software packages such as ANSYS.
Demonstrated ability to achieve superior results and industry-wide acclaim in their profession.
Experience in the development and implementation of coupled computational and advanced testing techniques.
Skills in handling complex geometries including heat exchanger design.
Ability to learn new application areas and capable of modeling complex simulations and multi-disciplinary systems.
Strong drive for results and continuous improvement
